CapCut Creators, You’re Being Targeted — But Not for a Collab

CapCut has taken the content creation world by storm. Whether you're editing Instagram reels, TikToks, or YouTube shorts, chances are you've used CapCut or know someone who does. It’s smooth, easy to use, and gives videos that clean, viral-ready finish. But guess what? Cybercriminals have noticed CapCut’s rise in popularity — and now, they’re using it as bait in a new and very sneaky scam.

At TheCyberMamushka, we’re always watching for these digital traps, and this one is especially dangerous for influencers and content creators.

The Scam: Fake CapCut Emails That Steal Your Info

Here’s what’s happening. Scammers are sending out fake emails claiming to be from CapCut or Apple, saying you've been charged around $49.99 for a CapCut Pro subscription. They throw in a convenient “Cancel Subscription” button, and in the moment of panic (nobody likes surprise charges), it’s easy to click without thinking.

But clicking that button doesn’t cancel anything — instead, it leads to a fake Apple login page. It looks incredibly real. If you type in your Apple ID and password, that information is sent straight to the scammers.

And they’re not done yet. Once they’ve got your Apple credentials, they send you to a refund form asking for your credit card number, expiration date, and even a verification code. The page looks like it’s helping you — but it’s really just stealing your sensitive information.

Who They’re Targeting

This scam is especially dangerous for social media influencers, video editors, and creators — basically, anyone using CapCut regularly. If you're in the middle of brand deals, editing daily content, or managing fan engagement, a hacked Apple ID or stolen credit card can derail everything. And because many creators use their Apple ID across multiple services (iCloud, iMessage, App Store), the damage can spread fast.

How to Stay Safe (and Help Others Do the Same)

You don’t need to be a cybersecurity expert to protect yourself. Just follow these simple steps — and share them with your fellow creators:

  1. Only download CapCut from official sources

Stick to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Don’t fall for links in WhatsApp groups or sketchy websites offering “Pro” features for free.

  2. Don’t click on links from suspicious emails

If an email claims to charge you unexpectedly, don’t click the button. Go directly to the CapCut or Apple website in your browser and check your account manually.

  3. Double-check the email sender

A real Apple email will come from an @apple.com domain — not from some random jumble of characters.

  4. Turn on Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

It’s a small step that adds a powerful layer of protection. If someone tries to log in using your credentials, 2FA helps stop them in their tracks.

  5. Never give out your card info in a form you didn’t expect

Real companies rarely ask for credit card details by email, especially as part of a refund process.

Let’s Make It Trend — Cybersecurity Meets Influence

If you're an influencer or aspiring creator, your voice matters. Your audience trusts you — and this is your chance to protect them too. Talk about this scam in a reel, do a short “How to Spot a Fake CapCut Email” video, or share a story showing your inbox with suspicious messages blurred out. Make it relatable. Make it real.

At TheCyberMamushka, we believe that cybersecurity isn't just for IT people — it's for all of us. Whether you're a TikTok queen, a YouTube vlogger, or a weekend video editor, you deserve to create safely and confidently.
